Faces of Evil
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Faces of Evil is created by graphic designer, Hans Weishäupl. It contains 13 faces of the cruellest and most infamous dictators over the past 100 years.Weishäupl took photographs of over 350 people in the country that each dictator was from and pieced particular parts of each person (wrinkles, moles, nose, eyes) to recreate the face. The photo montages, which measure 6 ft x 7.5 ft, do not contain a single piece of original picture material of the dictator.
All seem familiar and yet somehow impenetrable due to the many faces that hide behind each portrait – just as in reality. The complex photo compositions, have been framed in a way that these leaders would never have tolerated themselves – without uniform, without autocratic gestures, without cheering crowds - just the pure face of their evil. The pictures expose every tiny detail of their faces.
HITLER
The portrait of Hitler is made up of 37 people. His nose belongs to an estate agent from Berlin, his upper lip is from a locksmiths in Dresden, and so on. Each wrinkle, each mole, each eyebrow was reconstructed to resemble the original.
