Esquire's Augmented Reality Issue
Esquire's Augmented Reality IssueEsquire has done interesting things with magazines in the past. In this issue certain pages of the magazine contains 2D barcodes which the user scans using their webcam to activate the augmented reality. The video below explains more on how it works. (It's a bit more gimmicky, than useful.)
The Augmented reality sections of the magazine have been developed with digital-services firm The Barbarian Group “We wanted to create something that wasn’t just about showing off the technology but actually adds value to the story,” said Barbarian CEO Benjamin Palmer. The magazine features six different interactive sections: A 3D cover featuring Robert Downey Jr., a weather-changing fashion portfolio, a time-sensitive Funny Joke from a Beautiful Woman (Gillian Jacobs), plus a song, a photo slideshow, and an ad from Lexus.
